As a stay-at-home mom, I never imagined I'd build a business that would take me on a journey of sustainability and creativity. But, in 2009, that's exactly what happened. With my children growing up, I started upcycling their outgrown clothes, and before long, my passion project evolved. I was fortunate to have had the guidance of my mom, Carol, an amazing seamstress who taught me the ropes of sewing. Those early lessons laid the foundation for my creative journey.

Growing up in Southern Illinois, l've always held a special place in my heart for the region. My stepmom, Tina Shingleton, spent years working at the Alumni Association at Southern Illinois University, where she eventually retired. Those roots have stayed with me, and I'm proud to carry on the values she instilled in me.
As my kids grew older, I found myself drawn to the rugged charm of flannel shirts. I think it's no coincidence, given my dad, Bruce Shingleton, a true Southern Illinois native, wore a plaid shirt every single day. His style has been a lasting influence on me, and l've dedicated the past 7 years to upcycling these garments into unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. There's something special about rescuing discarded flannels and breathing new life into them.
