Saluki Market Vendor Standards & Guidelines
As part of the Saluki Market vendor onboarding process, all vendors agree to uphold the Saluki Market Honor Code. This code outlines customer service standards designed to ensure a top-tier experience for customers.
To encourage and uphold this high standard of service and ensure a trustworthy experience for buyers, Saluki Market enforces a Three-Step Enforcement Process for vendors who fail to comply with marketplace policies. This system provides clear expectations, corrective actions, and consequences for non-compliance.
Market Compliance
Vendors are expected to adhere to all Saluki Market and Shopify policies, procedures, and guidelines. Violations of Market standards include but are not limited to the following:
Failure to provide timely customer service, including excessive communication delays, excessive shipping delays, unfulfilled orders, or unresolved refund requests.
Misrepresentation of products, such as inaccurate descriptions, counterfeit items, price manipulation, or misleading images.
Promotion, marketing, or sales of prohibited or restricted items that violate marketplace guidelines.
Breach of Service Level Standards, including shipping delays, failure to communicate with buyers, or repeated negative feedback. Repeated complaints on product quality.
Unethical or fraudulent behavior, such as deception, manipulation, intellectual property infringement, or failure to comply with dispute resolutions.
Failure to respect customer privacy standards and Marketplace confidentiality requirements.
Failure to treat customers or other Marketplace vendors and administers with respect.
Three-Step Enforcement Process
All Saluki Market vendors have control of their e-commerce store; however, when a situation arises, that involves a violation of a Saluki Market or Shopify policy, the Alumni Association will take the following steps:
Step 1: Warning & Compliance Notification
The vendor receives a formal warning detailing the violation and corrective actions.
The vendor must acknowledge receipt of the warning and confirm compliance or required changes within 3 business days.
No immediate penalties are imposed at this stage, allowing the vendor an opportunity to correct the issue.
Step 2: Temporary Suspension & Corrective Action Plan
If a vendor commits a second violation within 12 months, the Market management will review the violation and has the right to temporarily suspend the shop and vendor for up to 14 days.
During suspension, the vendor cannot process new sales but must fulfill any outstanding orders.
The vendor must submit a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) outlining how they will prevent further violations.
Step 3: Permanent Removal from the Marketplace
If a vendor violates policies a third time within 12 months, their account can be permanently removed from Saluki Market.
Vendors may appeal the decision within 7 days by providing evidence that the enforcement action was issued in error.
Appeals will be reviewed by Saluki Market Management, whose decision is final.
Immediate Termination for Severe Violations
In cases of serious misconduct, Saluki Market reserves the right to bypass the Three-Step Enforcement Process and immediately terminate a vendor’s account. Violations that may result in immediate suspension include but are not limited to:
Sale of illegal, fraudulent, or highly restricted products.
Harassment, discrimination, or hate speech directed at customers or staff.
Repeated failure to deliver products or issue refunds.
Misuse of customer information or serious breach of customer confidentiality policies.
Vendor Appeal Process
Vendors may appeal any enforcement action within 7 business days of issuance.
Appeals must be submitted in writing to Saluki Market Support (salukimarket@alumni.siu.edu) and include relevant documentation to support the appeal (e.g., proof of shipping, customer communication records).
If an appeal is granted, the violation may be removed from the vendor’s record.
Compliance Record & Reset Period
Violations remain on a vendor’s record for 12 months from the date of issuance.
If a vendor remains compliant for 12 consecutive months, their record resets to zero violations.
Saluki Market reserves the right to modify or update this policy as needed. Vendors will be provided with notice of policy changes prior to the changes going into effect.
Saluki Market is an at-will marketplace. Saluki Market management reserves the right to review vendors and their products throughout the onboarding process and duration of the vendor/product’s tenure on the Marketplace and has the right to decline and/or request removal of a vendor or their product at any time.
By participating in Saluki Market, vendors acknowledge and agree to abide by these Marketplace Compliance Standards and the Three-Step Enforcement Process.
